Everything you need to print, assemble, and start using your binder — the right supplies, in the right order, the first time.

Step 1

What You Need

Standard supplies — nothing specialized. Most are available at any office supply store or online.

Required

  • 1.5–2 inch three-ring binder
  • Letter size paper (8.5 x 11)
  • Three-hole punched paper (highly recommended to save time)
  • Section dividers (6 tabs minimum)
  • Printer access

Optional but Helpful

  • + Extra punched paper for refills
  • + Sheet protectors for key pages
  • + Pen and highlighter
  • + Pencil for financial tracking
  • + Front pocket insert for Quick Start Card
  • + Paper clips for organizing refill stacks

Step 2

Recommended Supplies

Three quality items. That is all you need to begin. Durable, serious, and affordable — so you can start the system, not shop for it.

1

Durable 2-Inch Heavy Duty 3-Ring Binder

Look for
  • Reinforced spine and strong ring mechanism
  • Slant D rings or EZD rings for better page turning
  • View cover so you can label the front, spine, and back
Steve's Note

2 inches is the sweet spot. Roomy enough for the full system, not so big it feels like a project binder. I tested several sizes and came back to this one every time. Once your binder has tabs, pages, and sections filled in, you will be glad you went with 2 inches.

2

24 lb 3-Hole Punched Paper, Letter Size

Why 24 lb
  • Less bleed-through and better durability under daily use
  • Feels more substantial, which matches the purpose of the binder
  • Pre-punched saves time — no hole punch required to start
Steve's Note

If 24 lb pre-punched is hard to find, 20 lb pre-punched is fine. Both print clean and hold up well. The heavier weight is slightly more durable over time, but do not let paper specs slow you down.

3

Avery Write & Erase Pocket Plastic Dividers, 8-Tab Set

Why this one
  • Tabs extend beyond sheet protectors so labels stay visible
  • Write and erase plastic so you can reuse and relabel as the binder evolves
  • Front pocket holds loose papers and unpunched sheets when life gets messy
  • Big Tab insertable design gives more label space than standard tabs
  • Tear resistant, wipes clean with most non abrasive household cleaners
Steve's Note

If you are starting with only one set of dividers, choose eight tabs. It covers the core sections without gaps. You can always add more as the system grows — the binder is designed to expand with you.

Step 3

Print & Assemble

Don't print everything at once. Start small, get stable, then add sections as you go.

📌 This system builds in stages. Print small. Use consistently. Add pages only when stable.

Remember

Start Small. Stay Consistent.

Get the basics in hand, print the Start Here section, and begin. Add more only when you are stable and ready.
